My X Games Experience | 8848 Altitude
2012-01-29Thjupp out there!
Now X Games is soon over and so is my very first time here in Aspen. It has been a lot of fun to be a part of this big n' crazy event, and will for sure be a huge experience that I will bring with me into the future. To come to "the big X Games" is a dream come true for me and ever since I made my first 360 with my friends in Hovfjället it has been something that I've aimed for. To be able to get here after not even 2 years of international competing is just crazy, and I will make sure that it wasn't the last time I was here!

As always I had a pretty hard time to make my competition run during the training sessions. I always feel uncomfortable for a long time with a course of this size and it just takes a lot of runs for me to get used to it. Hopefully that will change after more competing as it's kind of frustrating for your mind. Anyway, somehow I turn on my competition mode in my brain when the competition well has started and I usually get my run down. This time I made a safe run for my first run, got a score of 69.33 and tried to step it up a little bit for my second and third run. Unfortunately I fell on my best run on a 900 in my second run and on my third I wouldn't have had enough speed for a 900, so I ended up doing a 540 instead. With some other few mistakes my third run gave me a score of 77.66 and that gave me 7th place in the end.

I'm not totally satisfied with my riding, but it feels ok for being my first X.
Big up's to Kaya Turski that won the comp by doing the very first switch 1080 in women's X Games history! Also big congratz to Devin Logan that got 2nd place and Anna Segal for getting 3rd place! If you want to watch these three girls runs + see the full results of the comp, check this out -> Women's Ski Slopestyle
Me at the start before the competition. There was much nervousness that went through my body at that time, but after the first run it kind of let go a little bit and it was a lot of fun to ride!
Between the training and comps there was a lot of waiting, and most of the time we spent that time in the Athlete Lounge. They had a couple of Xbox games there and we sure did spent some time playing.
Now me and Niklas will head back to Breckenridge again, but first we'll enjoy some free food from the Athlete Lounge, adios people!
/ Emma
