A Little Advice for a Beautiful Garden » Cloud Articles

When some folks are considering planting a garden, they think it will be a major undertaking. As you plan your garden development, just remember it will not happen overnight and meet all of the small jobs head on to end up with a stunning conclusion.

Your plants need to be able to breathe: air is commonly overlooked when people look into the necessities of plants. After all, it's in the atmosphere so it shouldn't be something we need to hint about, right? Wrong. Plants need to breathe through their roots as much as their foliage, which means that soil shouldn't be waterlogged since it will mean that the roots can't extract the underground oxygen and will end up rotting. You can avoid this issue by ensuring the soil is not compacted. So in other words you shouldn't walk or dig it up if it is wet. The soil will contain more oxygen if it's looser.

Underground oxygen levels can be maintained at a good level by simply adding organic matter, like dense clay soil. In addition to this, you must make sure the drainage in your garden is adequate, and you shouldn't ever crowd your plants too closely, especially if diseases like mildew can affect them.

Too Much Or Too Little Water: Watering is vital with your garden as you do not want to over water nor do you want to under water as both are bad for the plants health. All you need to do is look at your plants to tell the level of water they will need. So, you can see this by the petals and buds on the plants, if they are under watered then they will die and fall off showing it is not watered enough. After that, the leaves will start to shrivel, followed by the stem and lastly the roots will go limp. Over watering is equally as bad as under watering as it stops the oxygen reaching the roots.

Wet soil is the best environment for diseases such as mildew and blight to grow in so you do not want to over water, making the soil wetter than it needs to be.

The next piece of advice is to plant a herb garden: Planting a herb garden is an excellent thing to do as it will take insects away from your other plants, hence why lots of people plant them along side their vegetables. On the other hand, you can also
opt to create a separate herb garden with a wide range of herbs. After the frost herbs should be planted as they need the same care as vegetables.

You should do this because herbs do not like the cold weather. Herbs require minimum effort and this is why they are good and easy to grow. Also the fresher the herb the nicer it is. Growing herbs is the best way to get them as fresh as possible. If your goals allow it you can have a garden
that has a mix of beautiful flowers and lots of vegetables, herbs and fruits. Regardless of what you end up planting, you'll need to make sure you have the proper knowledge to maintain your plants, so make sure you do a bit of research first.
